History CMS Derks Star Busmann

The present law firm of CMS Derks Star Busmann has its roots in the formation of the Utrecht law firm Nauta en Pit around 1901, which later became Star Busmann & Hooft Graafland, the formation of J.G. Brouwer Nijhoff civil-law notaries in Utrecht around 1901, the predecessor of Tjabbes & De Gier civil-law notaries, and the formation of the Utrecht law firm Derks around 1945.

Chronological overview

  • 1900 - Formation of Nauta en Pit law firm, later Star Busmann & Hooft Graafland
  • 1901 - Formation of J.G. Brouwer civil-law notaries
  • 1945 - Formation of Derks law firm. The name is later changed to Derks & Partners
  • 1976 to 1983 - Expansion of Derks & Partners through takeovers of firms in Amersfoort, Hilversum and Arnhem
  • 1986 - Office opens in Brussel
  • 1989 - Merger of Derks & Partners with De Gier, Pentinga & Anema civil-law notaries. The firm continues under the name of Derks . De Gier . Pentinga
  • 1990 - Merger with Star Busmann & Hooft Graafland, lawyers and tax consultants in Utrecht. The name is changed to Derks Star Busmann
  • 1992 - Merger with Frijns, De Haas, Stolp civil-law notaries in Hilversum
  • 1992 - Office opens in Berlin
  • 1996 - Merger with Geerling Advocaten in Amsterdam
  • 1996 - Alliance with Hanotiau Bruyns & Associés in Brussels. The firm continues under the name Derks . Star Busmann . Hanotiau
  • 1997 - Merger with the Arnhem law firm Winters & Bosnak
  • 1999 - Five leading European offices enter into an international alliance: CMS. The name Derks . Star Busmann . Hanotiau is changed to CMS Derks Star Busmann Hanotiau
  • 2001 - The French law and tax consultancy firm Bureau Francis Lefebvre joins CMS
  • 2001 - The Brussels office continues independently within the alliance under the name CMS Lexcelis. The name of the Dutch firm is changed to CMS Derks Star Busmann
  • 2002 - The Italian law and tax consultancy firm Adonnino Ascoli & Cavasola Scamoni joins CMS
  • 2005 - The Belgian firm CMS Lexcelis merges with the Belgian law firm DeBacker. Its new name is CMS DeBacker
  • 2005 - The Spanish law firm Albinana & Suarez de Lezo joins CMS
  • 2005 - The partnership of Derks . Star Busmann is converted on 1 January 2005 into a public limited company, CMS Derks Star Busmann N.V.
