Cees van Leeuwen began his career as a lawyer in 1982, and from 1991 to 2002 was a partner at CMS Derks Star Busmann. From 2002 to 2003 he was State Secretary for Culture and Media in the Balkenende I government. He went on to work as Process Manager for the consultancy firm Boer & Croon. In 2008 he returned to CMS Derks Star Busmann as adviser, and in this role is a member of the Employment Law practice group in Amsterdam.
Cees has held a variety of other positions as a member of Supervisory Boards and is also active as a mediator. He is editor-in-chief of the Dutch publication Memo Plus Arbeidsovereenkomst en Ontslag and adviser for the legal handbook Praktijkgids Artiest en Recht. Cees specializes in employment law, employee participation and entertainment law.
