De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) is the regulator of pension funds. There is increasing interest in the regulation of pensions, partly because of greater flexibility in pension regulations (such as early retirement and life-course savings schemes) and the ageing of the Dutch population. Increasing competition between pension funds also plays a role.
We also detect some changes in the stance adopted by the regulator, with the DNB taking an increasingly pro-active role. This means less regulation afterwards and more regulation at an earlier stage.
CMS Derks Star Busmann has ample experience in advising pension funds in the area of supervisory regulations and all associated aspects.
